The Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction (QUIS 5.5)

The Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction (QUIS) is a tool developed by a multi-disciplinary team of researchers in the Human/Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL) at the University of Maryland at College Park. The QUIS was designed to assess user´s subjective satisfaction with specific aspects of the human/computer interface. The QUIS team successfully addressed the reliability and validity problems found in other satisfaction measures, creating a measure that is highly reliable across many types of interfaces.

The QUIS 5.5 contains a demographic questionnaire, a measure of overall system satisfaction along six scales, and hierarchically organized measures of four specific interface factors (screen factors, terminology and system feedback, learning factors, and system capabilities). Each area measures the users´overall satisfaction with that facet of the interface, as the factors that make up that facet, on a 9-point scale. The short version of the QUIS 5.5 contains 27 questions, while the long version contains 80 questions. Facilities for collecting users´comments are also incorporated into the QUIS 5.5.

The QUIS 5.5 packet contains an on-line version of the QUIS 5.5, as well as both short and long paper version of the QUIS. The on-line QUIS 5.5 operates in both Macintosh and MS Windows environments. The QUIS can be customized to fit specific evaluation needs. Data is stored on-line for convenient analysis.

The QUIS is available from the University of Maryland Technology Liaison Office for $750, for unlimited use at one site. A substantial discount is available for educational institutions. For further Information contact:
